Kenzie Faye's Fight

Donation protected
Last week four year old Kenzie Faye traveled to Idaho with  her Mom & Dad, Emily & Brad, and little brother Kanaan to visit with Grandpa for a long weekend.

She'd been experiencing on again off again stomachaches for 2 weeks.  Luckily her Mom was diligent in getting answers.

After 2 urgent care visits (suspecting a UTI and then constipation) an x-ray showed what seemed to be inflamed intestines.

On Saturday Kenzie left for the local ER in Idaho and she hasn't been back since. Everything changed when an 18 cm tumor was discovered on her kidney and she was promptly moved to Sacred Hearts Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA for many more tests and specialized care.

On Monday surgery was planned to remove the tumor and Kenzie's kidney plus install a Hickman line for chemo. The Hickman line was installed while the tumor and Kenzie's kidney went untouched because her blood pressure was too high to continue.

On Tuesday Kenzie was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer derived from nerve cells. Hers is high-risk, advanced, aggressive, and metastatic.

There’s a tumor on her abdomen which cannot be surgically removed because there’s spread to other lymph nodes, her chest, neck, and stomach. Her doctor is hopeful that Kenzie’s survival rate is @ 70%.

Her first 5-day chemo treatment begins today (Weds, Aug 12). The following week will probably hold a round of outpatient chemo.

The future will likely hold more chemo, surgery, more chemo, radiation, and stem cell transplants. This will be a long journey.

Kenzie's parents Brad and Emily are unable to estimate when they'll be back home in California or back to work. Kenzie's care is everyone's focus for the foreseeable future.

There are teams in the hospital helping Mom & Dad navigate the paperwork with their employers to file for disability, time off, etc. Family members are helping with Kanaan's care and visits to Mom and Dad, taking care of life back home, mailing clothes, and so, so much more.

If you know Brad and Emily you know that is pains them to ask for help so we're making sure that they don't have to. We hope to make sure everything they need is easy to come by so that they can focus on Kenzie's needs. Only one parent can sleep in the room with her each night and they're taking turns going back to Grandpa's for the night.

If you want to help and can contribute financially please do. We have a $10,000 goal at this time and donations will help them with whatever they're needing now and for the next few months.

If Kenzie's care and treatment isn't covered under insurance we will make necessary adjustments.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for joining us in Kenzie Faye's Fight. This girl is such a bright light in the world.
