Kenya Missions 2019

Hi everyone!
This summer (8/7 - 8/19), I'll be participating in a mission trip to Kenya with the organization, 4 Christ's Mission. Throughout the last two years, it's been incredible to be a part of a community (Remnant Westside Church in NYC) that have been pouring out into me, being with me through tough seasons, and leading me towards Jesus. It hasn't been the easiest couple of years, but it has been unquestionably good and worth it, so I thank God for it all, for patiently offering grace to me every day and loving me to unsurmountable degrees. Currently, I'm learning about the culture of love and hope Jesus calls us to live, while fascinating over God's movement to renew New York City.
While I am still in this process of growth, God has fostered a heart for the nations throughout this year, and ultimately led me to 4 Christ's Mission, an organization dedicated to serving God's kingdom by making disciples of Christ and loving people of all communities. Through prayer and intercession from close friends and mentors (THANK YOU ALL!!), I decided to apply and join the 4CM Kenya team in their missions trip this August. Honestly, I'm so excited and honored to be able to witness God's goodness in these communities.
Kenya as a country is quite diverse, speaking 74 different languages and a vast variety of ethnic groups. At this point in time, there is actually a pretty high percentage of people in Kenya who identify as Christian (~82%) or evangelical (~50%) and are actively engaged in sending out missionaries. However, less than 10% of Kenyan Christians attend church regularly. The communities are challenged by ethnic cultural practices mixing with biblical truths, and the need for trained leaders to lead the ~80,000 congregations across the country. Moreover, with corruption in the government, the welfare and support for the 41 million Kenyans living in poverty has been sparse. You can find more info here: https://prayercast.com/kenya.html
The aim of this mission trip is to provide encouragement and equipping for leaders that are a part of local churches as well as evangelism through a variety of ministries. Some of the ministries I will be serving in include VBS, medical clinics, prayer, church services as well as outreach events. 4 Christ's Mission's prayer is that through ministering to a variety of different churches in Kenya, we can see greater unity amongst them, so Christ can be magnified through out all the land.
If you feel your heart softened for the communities in Kenya or would just like to support me, you can partner with me in two ways!
From a financial standpoint, I am fundraising for $2,800 to help cover airfare ($1200) and mission resources (housing, transportation, food, ministry resources, and insurance $1600). Any amount at all would be a huge help!
From a spiritual standpoint, please pray for Kenya, 4CM, and my behalf. Some topics would be:
- Pray for the people there who haven't encountered Jesus yet, that the Spirit's movement would bring the community to experience God's amazing love. And also for the people there who do know the gospel, that they would be strengthened in their faith and walk in the light of Jesus.
- Pray for the 4 Christ's Mission as an organization, specifically for wisdom and to be a presence that exemplifies Christ's love for His neighbor.
- Pray for me in that I would surrender in faithful obedience, seeking only to glorify Jesus and to be His kingdom's hands and feet.
