Kenya in Coveralls: I Want to Be an Auto Mechanic!
Donation protected
My name is Kenya (Robinson) and I am a (notable?) contemporary artist, writer, short-term homestay host, early childhood educator, Assistant Rural Carrier (USPS), and karaoke enthusiast. In an effort to stabilize my financial future, beyond my creative endeavors, I have recently enrolled in an automotive repair program at my local state college. I am fortunate that I can cover my living expenses, but I hope you’ll consider supporting GoFundMe for tuition and fees. As a woman in the automotive field, I’ve got textbook assistance and a confirmed penchant for tinkering – I repaired the pump valve in my washing machine and replaced the capitator in my AC unit (twice!).
In typical Gemini fashion, I am thrilled to learn a new skill, but I am most excited that I will soon be a practitioner of labor that folks will actually pay for :-)
Here's a Breakdown for the Upcoming Semester starting October 14th, 2024 with additional details:
Classes meet Monday - Friday / 8am - 12:45pm
(Santa Fe College is a 5-minute walk from my house, so I don't even have to pay for transportation to class!)
I've already been registered for AUTO FUNDAMENTALS & MINOR SERVICE and AUTO ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS which have associated tuition and lab fees.
In January 2025, I'll be assigned to an internship at a dealership and/or garage. I've sent my USPS Union Representative a note inquiring about the possibility of being assigned to my home station (there is a fleet of vehicles to be maintained and I already have an employee number!)
Thank you so much for considering being a part of this journey!
All love,
k(R)
