Hi, my name is Imogen, in the summer of 2026 after I turn sixteen and have completed my GCSEs, I am going on a four week expedition to Kenya with Camps International. There are four parts to this expedition, community, wildlife, environment, and adventure. The community part is about helping the local people build new schools or important buildings that are needed, joining the local women, helping them make items for them to sell and cooking some local dishes. The wildlife part could be digging water holes, building elephant friendly deterrents to keep them off farm land and possibly assisting with animal conservation and much more. The environment side could involve planting trees, recycling plastic into eco-friendly building materials and cleaning beaches. The last part (adventure), includes many things such as an animal safari to see the big five, being part of a Kenyan tribe for the day, but the main one is obtaining my PADI Scuba Diving qualification, which I can use anywhere in the world in the future. This expedition will be very beneficial to me because it will give me lots of experience and an insight into the Kenyan culture. I will gain a lot of incredible memories and it will greatly enhance my CV. Most importantly, it will enable me to pursue my passions in helping animals and the environment, something I hope to do as a career. I need to raise the funds myself to pay for this life changing adventure. I will be trying my hardest to fundraise the money selling crafts and through sponsored events but I thought this might start me off in the meantime.
