Kenya 2020 Sportathon for Kipsaina Primary School

Donation protected
In July 2020 18 pupils from Barney School (and three members of staff) will travel to Kenya to carry on the vital school building work the previous team from Barney School started in 2018.

Living and working in the rural community of Kipsaina, we will be the guests of Maurice Wanjala, inspirational community leader and conservationist.

Pupils will get hands on with building and renovating classrooms, installing rain-water harvesting systems, tree planting, sports coaching and teaching.

We will then mount a joint expedition to climb Mt Elgon (at nearly 2500 m) with 18 Kenyan pupils. The trip will finish with a week of wildlife management and ranger training at the Mara Training Centre.

Money raised from our sponsored Sportathon will be split between the charity KEEP to fund the community work we are undertaking in the village schools, and the costs of the pupils going on the trip. Without the expedition the vital school building project could not take place, so any support you can offer will be very gratefully received.

The Pictures below show Kipsaina Primary School before and after the classrooms build with the support of the 2018 trip. With your help we can transform the entire school to this high standard.
