Honoring Yoko & Supporting Kento - 仁木陽子さんと健翔君のために)

The amazing Yoko Niki-Breyfogle has been such an important part of all our lives – a beloved family member, loving mother, loyal friend, and a mighty champion, tireless organizer, and joyful part of our lives. In everything from leading cultural exchanges to and from Japan to a career as an opera singer;  teaching piano to sharing Japanese culture; building countless friendships to mentoring Japanese teaching interns, Yoko was such an important part of and did so much to enrich all of our lives.

仁木（ブレイフォーグル）陽子さんは、私たちが日々生活する中でとても大切な存在でした。家族の一員、愛情深い母親、忠実な友、勇者、疲れ知らずの幹事、そして私たちの楽しい生活の一部。日米文化交流行事の主催・幹事からオペラ歌手としてのキャリア、ピアノそして文化の教師、数えきれないほどの友人知人作り、インターンの指導、すべての活動の中で、陽子さんは私たちの生活を豊かにしてきました。

Of all Yoko’s loves, her greatest was her son Kento – now a 14-year-old freshman at Grant High School and avid basketball and gaming fanatic. Yoko’s sudden absence in his life and ours has created a gaping hole in our community – and a challenge for us come together and fill that hole.

It’s time for us to honor Yoko by doing for Kento what she has done for so many of our children and us. As Kento transitions to his new life with his Uncle Chris and Aunt Jacque here in Portland, he will need our help and support. And, we want to ensure his future by making sure Yoko’s dream of college for him is secure.

陽子さんが慕い愛した中で、一番大切なものは息子の健翔くんです。14歳、グラント高校の一年生、バスケットボール好きのゲームファン。陽子さんがいない今、彼の中にできたギャップ、そして私たちのコミュニティにできたギャップを埋めるのは、私たち一人ひとりの課題となりました。陽子さんがこのコミュニティの生徒たち、子供たちに培ってきたことを今私たちが健翔くんにすることによって、陽子さんへの敬意、感謝を表さなければなりません。健翔くんは今、ポートランドの叔父のクリスさんと叔母のジャッキーさんのもとで新しい生活を始めようとしています。が、私たちのサポートが必要です。陽子さんの夢であった彼の大学への道を確保したいと考えています。

Please help us create a special custodial fund for Kento’s welfare and education. A portion of our gifts will help meet Kento’s immediate and mid-term needs in the coming months and years, with the balance invested in a college fund for when he graduates from high school in just three short years.
