Kent Todd Medical Fundraiser
Donation protected
On Sunday, May 3, 2020, my ex-husband and father to my girls, started developing swelling and pain in his right lower leg and could barely walk. I directed him to go to the Blessing ER for possible blood clot. Unfortunately, he didn't receive proper treatment and was sent home. Things escalated from there and he went to the Hannibal ER the next day. An ultrasound was done that showed an aneurysm in his leg. Hannibal called down to Univeristy Hospital in Columbia, where he was directed to see a vascular surgeon, Dr. Bath. Every day that went by, led to more pain, swelling and decreased mobility. CT of his leg was done on Wendesday that showed that one of his arteries was damaged and had been leaking. It also showed the aneurysm. The Dr was 50/50 on watching it or doing the surgery. We came home to see how he would do because the surgery would be a gruesome one, called a fasciotomy. On Thuesday, he developed more pain and brusing and I was afraid of him developing compartment syndrome. I called down and spoke with his team and they told us to get down there as quick as we could. We got in the car and drove to Columbia, again. I had to just drop him off the at the door of the ER because no visitors were allowed in due the Coronavirus. Dr. Bath performed a fasciotomy of his leg. Two huge cuts were made in the leg to relieve the pressure due to the fluid and blood that had collected there. The unfortunate thing about this surgery is that his leg will have to heal from the inside out. He will come home with a drain from one side of his leg and a wound dressing and vacuum on the other side. He will require around the clock care and home health to monitor his wound. This will also lead to lots of doctor's appointments in Columbia as well. Kent does not have health insurance and is going to be laid up for several months. He will be staying with us so that we can look out for him until he can get back on his feet to his job and living at his apartment again. Any type of donation will be appreciated as he still has bills to pay, medical bills that will be coming in and the several trips that we will be taking to Columbia. Thank you in advance! God is good always!
