Give the Gift of Healing for Pastor Kent Rogers
Spende geschützt
The Last Thing Anyone Expected
Kent Rogers and his wife, Cindy, have faithfully served God in ministry for the entirety of their 47 years of marriage. For the last 28 years, they have pastored the Highlands Church of God in Lakeland, Florida. Their lives and ministry together have impacted tens of thousands of people and have furthered the Kingdom of God in love and service to others.
Early on the morning of January 23rd, 2020, Kent's wife, Cindy, found her husband unresponsive. After the paramedics had taken Kent to the hospital, he was admitted into the ICU (intensive care unit). The doctors told Cindy that Kent's heart had stopped beating and blood to his brain and other vital organs had ceased to flow for an indeterminable amount of time.
They hooked him up to a ventilator, and they were able to get his heart beating again. However, they went on to explain that they had performed an electroencephalogram (or EEG, which is a test that detects electrical activity in a person's brain), and it showed no activity in the base of Kent's brain.
Kent was dying. He was, in fact, dead already.
The Miracle So Far
Modern medicine, as wonderful as it is, could not save Kent's life or bring him back from death. Only God could do that. Only the power of the cross could bring healing to his body, enable him to breathe on his own, and restore his mind.
And so the body of Christ began to pray for Kent and lift him up to the Father, in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ. Thousands of people from around the world were praying, all at once, asking God for a miracle.
Dozens of people flooded the hospital waiting room, many of them staying for days with very little sleep or rest. Family, friends, and fellow-ministers from around the country rushed to the hospital to lend their support to Cindy and pray over this man of God who had been so precious to them over the years.
The doctors kept giving Kent's family bad news. His heart was enlarged. His heart rate and blood pressure were erratic. They didn't anticipate recovery. The family may have to make a decision about when to disconnect him from the ventilator. And on and on it went.
And yet...
And yet the body of Christ kept praying. They kept believing that we still live in a time of miracles, that our only trust and hope was in Jesus Christ, that God could still raise someone from the dead. And that's what happened.
Before the first day had passed, he was opening his eyes and squeezing the hands of the nurses, his family, and friends.
By day two he was recognizing the faces of the people in the room with him, and he was using the nodding and shaking of his head to answer basic questions.
On the third day, though he was still intubated and sedated to the point of going in and out of sleep pretty easily, he was trying to laugh and smile along with those visiting him in his room.
On day four, the doctors turned off the ventilator and gave Kent a chance to try to breathe on his own. he was able to do so for 2 hours.
By day five, he was up to three hours of breathing on his own, and he began to communicate by spelling out words with the help of friends and family.
As each day has passed, the doctors told Cindy and their family whatever bad news they felt obligated to share. However accurate their facts where at the time, however, the body of Christ chose to believe the Truth.
They are continuing to believe, and Kent's condition is continuing to improve. God is performing a miraculous healing, in spite of the prognoses of the doctors.
One More Miracle
Kent's healing isn't the only miracle that he needs right now, however. Critical Care in a hospital is very expensive, and understandably so. The number of machines, medication, and personnel involved in the entire process is staggering. And while the cost of his healthcare isn't something Kent's family is worried about right now, once the crisis is over, the medical bills will start arriving in the mail. Even after Medicare and supplements do their part, there will still be a lot to pay for.
We are asking you to help.
First and foremost, you can help by praying for Kent and his family. You can also ask others to pray.
In addition to your prayers, we ask you to prayerfully consider giving. All of the money received from this campaign will go directly to Kent and Cindy to help them along their journey of healing and recovery, a road that they will be able to walk together with a much lighter load, thanks to your generosity.
