Help Kensley Kluckhohn fight Hepatoblastoma.
Kensley is the beautiful 20-month-old daughter of Kevin and Megan Kluckhohn. I truly hope you have been fortunate enough to have your day brightened by one of Kensley's fantastic smiles. She has an amazing little spirit and the most incredible parents and extended family, who bless everyone they meet.
Hepatoblastoma is "a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissue of the liver... it affects children younger than 3 years of age. The liver is one of the largest organs in the body." (www.cancer.gov)
So many people have asked how they can help Kensley and her family, so the Hammett family is setting up this gofundme account to help with Kensely's medical expenses. The Kluckhohn and Colberg families have truly blessed our family for the past 15 years - we hope to help bless their family, as well. I know many of you feel the same, so please pray for Kensley, leave a loving message of support, and contribute (if you can). We will keep this page updated as her healing continues. May God Bless you all.
Here is Kensley's story -
The Kluckhohns first publicly announced Kensley's medical concern on March 24, 2023:
"'Is Kensley constipated?' Those words will ring in my ears forever. That was 15 days ago, during Kensley's 18-month checkup - on March 9. We watched it over the weekend, had another check on Monday, March 13, and she still felt something in Kensley's abdomen - either an enlarged liver or kidney.
Tuesday, we had an ultrasound, and we were immediately told there was a mass in her liver and were referred to a pediatric oncologist.
Three days later, they put Kensley under anesthesia to perform a biopsy. We spend the weekend just enjoying life (hockey and the zoo), waiting for the results, and trying to keep our minds off the impending diagnosis. We prayed and hoped the tumor was benign. Monday came, and the results came back - after the Doctor's second 'umm,' we knew it was cancer - hepatoblastoma, to be specific. A fairly rare liver cancer, presenting in children under 3. 10 cases in the state of Idaho from a report I found between 2010 and 2019.
Four days later, we were again at the hospital, this time for a CT Scan to determine if the cancer had spread or metastasized in the lungs. At 5:07 pm - while we were driving home from the hospital - after the doctor was supposed to start his weekend- he called. This time with good news! The cancer has not spread - as best they can tell.
Our next steps are to wait for Kensley's oncologist, surgeon, radiologist, and other professionals to meet to determine the next steps. We are hopeful we know our next steps this coming week, but no matter what, I know our girl is a fighter! She came out one month early, was super strong, and has been a blessing her entire 19 months.
