I am Ken and I am a consultant ophthalmologist at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. I signed up to do the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon and thought it would be a good idea to do it as a fundraiser. I am running for the UNITED KINGDOM PAEDIATRIC GLAUCOMA SOCIETY (UKPGS).

I am a trustee of the charity and look after children with glaucoma. It gives me great joy seeing children I look after achieve their best vision and develop to their full potential.

UKPGS is a newly incorporated charity but have been running an annual educational meeting for over 10 years with the aim of promoting high quality care and outcomes for children who suffer from glaucoma and advancing education and training of healthcare professional in paediatric glaucoma. It has already inspired similar groups in North America and India. With time and support, UKPGS looks to promote scientific research relating to paediatric glaucoma by providing a platform for dissemination of such research and provision of grants to support research studies and to educating the general public in all matters relating to paediatric glaucoma.
