JUSTICE FOR CHRISTIAN HENRY

On the night of October 1, my son Christian Henry,  father of my one-year-old granddaughter and a five-year-old grandson, was repeatedly stabbed and then robbed on Main Street in Kenora. He spent 4 days in a coma and three months in an Intensive Care Unit, but is now back at home with our family.

"we have decided to offer a reward for any information leading to an arrest"

Not only have the police not made any arrests, but they have not followed up on leads provided by our family, and they seem to be caught up in patterns of racism and 'blaming the victim'—something we, as Indigenous people, are sadly all too familiar with.

We know there are people who know who did this.

We have given up on any hope of the police pursuing justice for Christian, and we have decided to offer a reward for any information leading to an arrest or conclusion to the case.

My grandmother and two of my uncles, and my neice Azraya all died in police custody, and my mother's murderer was never found.

How much injustice can our family suffer? When do we get to heal?

We want to publicly fundraise the money for a reward for conclusive evidence about who stabbed my son. We want this, not just because we have none of our own money to offer, but because it will help to shine a light on the police inaction and racism, which may in the long run be helpful to more people than just our family, so please donate generously.

My son, Christian wants for half of the money raised through this page to go to the #Justice4Azraya campaign which is advocating for an inquest into the in-custody death of Christian's cousin, Azraya Ackabee-Kokopenace.

If no-one comes forward to claim the reward, that half of the money will go to help Christian recover and to help him care for his young daughter and son, and to help recover some of the costs to our family from the months he was in the hospital and at home healing.
