Hi, my name is Stephanie. I’m writing this today with a heavy heart and I’m trying to help my family. 3 weeks ago Kenny, my 7 year old nephew was rushed by ambulance to a hospital in NYC because his heart suddenly started to fail. It’s has been determined that he now needs a heart transplant. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning, doctors are going to put in a Berlin Heart which is a devise that does the work for his heart to ultimately keep him alive while he waits for a new heart. This is terrifying for Kenny but the doctors told him the devise is the same thing Iron Man has to help his heart, which made Kenny a little less scared.

Kenny was a happy healthy kid before this, he loved nothing more than reading and playing with his little brother Theo and little sister Angelina. Now he is stuck in a hospital bed for 6months, a year, or more.. while he waits for his new heart. It’s heart breaking, he doesn’t understand what is happening to him or why he can’t go home with his family. All we can do is stay positive and hope for the best.

As you can imagine, this has turned our family’s world upside down! Life as we know it has changed forever. Kenny is being treated at a hospital in Manhattan where he will remain until he gets his new heart. We all live miles away which makes commuting daily impossible. My brother, Kenny’s father is staying in Manhatan so he can visit constantly throughout the day. He focuses on keeping little Kenny’s spirits up, bathes him, and brings him new books that he can read everyday. He is trying to make the best out of a horrible and terrifying situation.

This is going to be a very long road to recovery and I’m trying to raise money to help my brother with expenses that are already piling up and anything else he may need for him and his family. Any little bit counts and is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
