Kenny Bunker's Cancer Care Fund

Hi. My name is Tori, and I'm Ken Bunker's daughter.
Ken started having some very concerning health issues this fall and just today (1/18/24) we've finally been given concrete answers to as why...

He has a large cancerous mass on his right kidney.

If any of you know my dad, you know he would give the world to anyone if able. As the old saying goes, he'd give the shirt off his back to anyone. Literally anyone. I can't count the amount of times he helped everyone in our community while I was growing up. From mowing lawns for the elderly, shoveling snow, volunteering at functions in his church...his kindness knows no bounds. Now, I'm asking for some of that kindness to be returned to him during this time.

This is all very, very new territory for my dad because he's never been sick. I can count on one hand something else, too...the amount of days he missed at work while I was growing up. Maybe two? He's never been sick. Ever. So now that we've been tasked with dealing with this, it feels almost surreal.

We came up to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota because I knew that we would get the best possible care here. My father-in-LAW actually had a double kidney transplant here a few years ago. I know my father is in overly capable hands.

Today we found out that along with this cancerous mass, he has suspicious lymph nodes around the kidney that the doctors are fairly positive are cancer. The cancer has also traveled up his vena cava nerve. This is incredibly concerning because now we're playing with one of the most important nerves in the body and he will have to have multiple specialists in the operating room during his surgery.

My dad will undergo surgery to remove the kidney and cancerous mass (and the lymph nodes surrounding the kidney) and clear out that vena cava in mid February. He also has spots in his lung as well but that is a different beast for a different day...

My parents have been told they will have to be up at Mayo Clinic from anywhere between eight days and two weeks. I'm hoping setting up this will help to offset some of the costs of not only dealing with medical bills but also food while they are there and even the hotel costs. We've had to be up here three nights this trip, and it's been incredibly taxing on my parents' finances—both of them being pastors.

I just don't want him having to worry about money right now. It's the last thing I want him to be thinking about. If anyone can spare ANY amount, my entire family would be so grateful.

And if there's anyone deserving of help, it's him.

Please consider helping out a man who has given so much to so many people and is now having to go through something no one should have to go through.

I'll continue updating this when we have more info, but right now I just would be appreciative of any shares, good thoughts, prayers, whatever it is you have to offer.

Thank you for thinking of us during this time.
