Kenneth’s Cancer Journey

Hi everyone, I am Kelsey, Cori-Lynn’s sister and I am setting up this go fund me to help assist my sister, Kyle and AJ as they navigate the hard road ahead. Many people have reached out already wanting to help so figured we would get this set up now for them.

After multiple bouts of sickness that resulted in x-rays and an ultrasound February 26th Kenneth was urgently referred to Children’s Hospital Oncology Unit. He received multiple tests and a biopsy surgery to confirm his ultimate diagnosis of Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Kenneth currently has a treatment plan over the next 6-8 months that will consist of trips to Vancouver every 10-12 days with stays in Vancouver of 4-6 days. Cori-Lynn, AJ, and Kyle will be navigating these treatments across provinces and because of the treatments being spread out both Ronald McDonald House and Easter Seals being at capacity they will be staying in hotels during each of these trips to Vancouver.

Kenneths always been known for his calm, happy, no rush demeanour. He leaves every person he comes into contact with a little better than they were before very similar to his father. He came into this world fighting at two months premature and he now has to continue to fight. He acts as if he’s already cancer free and how he will help those going through something similar in the future. He’s always been a ray of positivity and it has never wavered during this very difficult journey. He’s scared to be sick but he’s positive he’s strong enough to come out stronger on the other side.

AJ lost his job less than 48 hours before Kenneth’s diagnosis. This left AJ and his family in a financially precarious situation while Kenneth receives life saving cancer treatments at Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, particularly since their family is no longer covered by extended health coverage.

Kyle is an owner operator with no extended health benefits to assist him while he travels back and forth from Saskatchewan to BC to be with Kenneth during his treatments.

Cori-Lynn is the only member of their family with medical benefits at this time.

Juggling two lives will become very costly as will the travel. Combined with the uncertainty of income with Aj needing to secure employment with flexibility to accommodate Kenneth’s medical needs and Cori-Lynn quite possibly needing to be off for the next several months to care for her son. They need all the help they can get.

Please also note that during Kenneth’s chemo treatments, they discourage flowers and plants so if you would like to help the family in other ways, consider things such as freezer meals, food/coffee, or gas gift cards.
