Kenneth Needs Our Help for Recovery Journey

Donation protected
On January 1, Kenneth was found unconscious and unresponsive with agonal breathing. He was rushed to Clark Memorial and quickly transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital for a hemorrhagic stroke (brain bleed) that resulted in a 15-16mm midline shift. During an emergency life saving brain surgery, a large portion of his skull was removed to allow for the swelling and his recovery. The portion of his brain that was injured controls swallowing and the movement of his limbs. He has undergone several swallow studies and will require extensive occupational and physical therapy, as well as another surgery to replace the skull plate. He currently is not able to sit up on his own or walk and is still very fragile. The neurosurgeon felt strongly that Kenneth needed to be moved to rehab ASAP to prevent deep depression, as she has witnessed with several brain trauma patients, and to help him learn to walk and control his body so that he can get home. He currently requires constant care, but we are hopeful at just 32 years old, he will regain his strength and return to being self-sufficient.

Kenneth does not have health insurance and does not currently qualify for Medicaid. The family paid $12,000 down for 7 days of inpatient therapy at Frazier, with each additional day to cost $1,600, which must be paid in advance. He is unable to work.

If you are able to help in Kenneth's recovery, you can be assured that all funds will go towards Kenneth's rehabilitation expenses with Frazier and any special accommodations that he may require to return home.

Our family is very appreciative of the love and support received during this difficult journey, whether it be a call, text, social media post, or remembering him in your prayers. We will continue updating on Kenneth's progress. Please continue praying for him to fully recover and for strength and patience for him and his caretakers.
