Hi! My name is Kennedy Webb. Have you ever had a dream that you were not sure that you were ever going to reach but you kept dreaming anyway? My dream is to play water polo in the Olympics, win a gold medal, and be able to sing our National anthem as I watch the flag be hoisted for my team and country.
At age 8, I was introduced to water polo and my dream took off. I work hard everyday at swim practice and at water polo practice, working towards my goal. I have attended the Junior Olympics with my club team for the past four years but I have been waiting for years for my chance to tryout for the Olympic Development Program. Finally, this year I had my chance. I tried out for the girls (born in 2003 and younger) team and made it as a 2005 player! I am one of youngest girls to make the 2017 Southwest Zone Team.
My team is practicing and learning new skills together for the National Championships in California. There, they will select players to try out for the National Team. (The next big step in my dream.)
I’ve had a very successful year in water polo. Many of my friends and family have supported me through attending my games and cheering me on by social media. Water polo has taught me the importance of working hard, working as a team and that with the support of friends and family, I am capable of things that I did not believe possible. My support team is amazing!
I still have to pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming that I made the Southwest Zone Olympic Development Team!
I created this page in hopes that everyone can help send me to Nationals. I want to keep my dream alive but I know that it is getting expensive for my parents (who are both teachers). My expenses include flight, hotel, uniforms, food, training fees and entry fees. Please considering joining my fundraising team. Every little bit helps.
I’ll keep you posted on how our team does at Nationals! March 10-12
