A Journey of Love, Strength, and Hope
Some stories unfold in the spaces between—between hospital walls, late-night ER visits, and quiet moments of resilience no one sees. This is ours.
Meet Kennedy: A Warrior with a Radiant Smile
Kennedy is our vibrant, spunky 4-year-old whose infectious smile and unstoppable spirit brighten every room she enters. But behind that radiant smile is a complex medical journey shaped by resilience, advocacy, and hope.
For months, doctors dismissed Kennedy’s symptoms because they did not match the typical signs of cerebral palsy. Just before her first birthday, she was finally diagnosed with dystonic cerebral palsy. Her rare presentation continues to make treatment a complex and ongoing challenge.
Despite it all, Kennedy finds joy in the little things. She is a daddy’s girl and lights up whenever she sees him, adores watching her big brother Liam build Legos, and has a fascination with trains. Her all-time favorite? Taylor Swift.
The Eras Tour has become the soundtrack of our journey. Whether it’s therapy sessions, hospital stays, or long drives to specialists, Taylor’s music is usually playing—bringing Kennedy comfort in the hardest moments and motivating her to take another step forward.
The Reality of Medical Parenting
What most people don’t see is the invisible weight of raising a medically complex child: the hours of research, the endless insurance battles, the emotional toll of uncertainty, and the financial strain of specialized care.
Last year, we made the decision to relocate across the country for Kennedy to have access to better care. While we found the expertise she needed, we have faced significant financial hurdles. Some medical supplies and care that were once covered by insurance no longer are, leaving us to absorb the costs.
With my husband working out of town to keep our family afloat, coordinating Kennedy’s care has become a delicate balance of logistics and teamwork. We are deeply grateful for the support from our close family.
A Critical Crossroads
As we navigate this next phase in Kennedy’s care, we are reaching out for help to ease the financial challenges that come with it. On Monday the 31st, Kennedy will undergo surgery for a Baclofen pump, a procedure that could dramatically improve her comfort and mobility. The recovery requires a week-long hospital stay.
At the same time, Liam needs oral surgery to remove a tooth fragment lodged near his sinus cavity. Insurance will not cover this procedure, adding another significant expense out-of-pocket.
Through it all, Liam has been a constant source of love and support for Kennedy. In waiting rooms and pharmacy lines, he does the little things to help her feel safe—pushing her wheelchair, holding her hand, or singing You Are My Sunshine to brighten her up in difficult moments. At just seven years old, he carries a level of compassion and strength that takes our breath away.
How You Can Help
Your support and sharing our story will make an immeasurable difference in our lives. Your generosity will help us cover:
✔️ Medical costs not covered by insurance
✔️ Liam’s oral surgery
✔️ Travel expenses for medical care
✔️ Kennedy’s gait trainer
We are working to pay off Kennedy’s gait trainer to provide her with more mobility. In the hallways of her school and therapy center, her joy has captured the hearts of both children and adults alike. For a little girl who loves to be on the go, a gait trainer is her passport to exploring the world on her own terms.
The Ripple Effect of Kindness
