Kenlie Kells: Heart Warrior

Hi everyone, my name is Brittany Kells and this GoFundMe campaign has been started to help an amazing family that could use support! My beautiful niece, Kenlie, was diagnosed and born with a severe congenital heart defect. The official diagnosis given was “Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries” (TOF/PA/MAPCAS). We were told that with this diagnosis typically comes about 2-3 surgeries within the first years of life.

Due to many unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances, her surgical plan has recently changed. Less than 8 hours before her first scheduled surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital, the surgeon canceled the procedure. Since Kenlie's heart defect is so rare and complex, they have been transferred to a new surgical team at Stanford Medical Center in California. This is now an 11-hour+ drive from their home. Jason, Courtney and Kenlie's twin sister Callie will need to temporarily relocate to California to stay with Kenlie during her surgery and recovery. As you can imagine, this has added a lot of emotional and financial stress to an already overwhelming situation.

Kenlie has endured so much in her young life and is facing an even more challenging future. This incredible family deserves to put financial stress to the back of their minds so they can focus on Kenlies health, needs, surgery and recovery.

Kenlie's heart defect significantly impacts her oxygen saturation which can quickly decline to dangerous levels, especially when she begins to cry. She has had to be resuscitated on two separate occasions. Due to Kenlie's health issues and now the multiple trips and extended stays out-of-state, it has made it difficult for Jason (a Phoenix Fire Fighter) and Courtney (a dental hygienist) to return to a regular work schedule.

After so many months of stay in the CVICU at Phoenix Childrens, NG tube feedings and medical grade devices/equipment, doctor and specialist appointments, transportation, and now a rather sudden change in medical plans requiring multiple trips to Stanford, housing, and ever surmounting medical bills- any donations, prayers, or well-wishes would be so greatly appreciated!!
