Hello. My name is Eric Lomax and I am coming to you on behalf of my lovely wife Kenisha. On June 2, 2016 my wife was diagnosed with colon cancer that has spread into her liver, lungs, and spine. She never had any symptoms of the disease until we came back from a trip to Thailand. The doctors said that this disease could have been growing over the last 4-5 years. To say the least, we were devastated, scared and hurt. The doctor actually told me to prepare for the worse. Suddenly, we went from a life full plans to now wondering if life would continue. It took every ounce of faith in me to muster the strength to fight back. I am thankful to God for my church Detroit World Outreach. Bishop Benjamin Gibert and Dr. Charisse Gibert are the best shepherds in the world. The entire church has rallied around us with constant prayer and assistance. For this, we are forever grateful.
My wife is my queen and I am so proud of her because she is a fighter. She has never let anything stop her. I say this because she always wanted to be a nurse. She couldn't get into Nursing School on her first try, so she finished her first degree in Medical Case Management. Shortly thereafter, she enrolled at the University of Detroit Mercy. She persevered and completed a accelerated nursing program earning her her second Bachelor's degree as a Registered Nurse. She was so happy to have accomplished her goal and we knew that the sky was the limit.
Since being diagnosed with cancer she has lost her job because her employer could not hold a spot for her. It really devastated her and it caused us to go into a financial tailspin. My income has been limited due to being her caregiver, I have also had to apply for Social Security Disability for her, but they have said that it could take up to a year for approval.
A lot of friends and family have asked us if we need anything. Well, I have come to the conclusion that we need financial support most of all. This is a expensive disease even with insurance. We are constantly having to cover medical expenses, as well as prescription cost. In just the last 3 months we have gotten bills totalling over $100,000. I would like to get a second opinion, but other doctors want huge deposits for consultations. I would also like to try alternative immuno therapies. The bottom line is that all of this cost money that we do not have right now.
I am asking you to donate whatever you can. I am also asking you to ask your friends and family for donations. Every little bit helps when it comes to fighting cancer. I am going to do everything to make sure my queen is taken care of. I am confident that we can beat this disease if I can get her the care that she needs. I pray that you will find it in your heart to be of assistance. In return I will pray that God will reward you 100 fold for your generosity.
