Hi, we’re the family of Keneth Castro. We’re sharing his story because he’s at a point where he truly needs support from others to keep going. Keneth is a father of three, living in Honduras, and he’s been through more than most people could imagine.

In 2015, Keneth was in a terrible car accident that nearly took his life. He suffered multiple internal injuries — seven broken ribs, collapsed lungs, a lacerated liver, and a shattered hip. After a total hip replacement, he slowly began to rebuild his life as a single father. He worked hard, started small businesses, and did everything he could to provide for his kids.

In 2021, his original hip implant failed. He underwent another replacement, which dislocated — twice. A third emergency surgery followed, and that’s when he developed a severe bacterial infection. Over the next several months, Keneth was bedridden and endured round after round of treatment, pain, and uncertainty. He had to sell his home and close his businesses just to stay afloat.

Keneth has insurance in Honduras, but the reality is that coverage only goes so far. Specialized surgeries, emergency care, and life-saving medications aren’t fully covered. Much of what he’s been through has come out of his own pocket.

After months of painful recovery, Keneth finally had his 13th surgery — his fourth hip replacement — and was able to walk again. But the relief was short-lived. Recent scans showed that his femur never fused with the implant. The prosthetic is now loose inside his leg. He’s once again unable to walk, in constant pain, and unable to work or care for his kids the way he wants to.

Now, a respected orthopedic surgeon in Honduras, Dr. Tirzo Boquín, is planning what will be Keneth’s 14th surgery — a complex reconstruction to wire a new prosthetic directly to his bone. This is his last real shot at walking again and getting his life back.

We’re asking for help to make this surgery possible. Donations will go toward the operation, hospitalization, antibiotics, physical therapy, and basic recovery costs. Keneth has given everything he has. We’re doing everything we can as a family, but we can’t do it alone.

Hola, somos la familia de Keneth Castro. Compartimos su historia porque ha llegado a un punto en el que realmente necesita el apoyo de los demás para seguir adelante. Keneth es padre de tres hijos, vive en Honduras y ha pasado por más de lo que la mayoría de las personas podría imaginar.

En 2015, Keneth sufrió un terrible accidente automovilístico que casi le cuesta la vida. Tuvo múltiples lesiones internas: siete costillas rotas, pulmones colapsados, hígado lacerado y la cadera destrozada. Después de una prótesis total de cadera, poco a poco comenzó a reconstruir su vida como padre soltero. Trabajó duro, inició pequeños negocios e hizo todo lo posible por mantener a sus hijos.

En 2021, su implante de cadera original falló. Se sometió a otro reemplazo, que se dislocó dos veces. Luego vino una tercera cirugía de emergencia, y fue entonces cuando desarrolló una grave infección bacteriana. Durante los meses siguientes, Keneth estuvo sin poder levantarse, enfrentando tratamiento tras tratamiento, dolor e incertidumbre. Tuvo que vender su casa y cerrar sus negocios solo para poder sobrevivir.

Keneth tiene seguro en Honduras, pero la realidad es que la cobertura solo llega hasta cierto punto. Las cirugías especializadas, la atención de emergencia y los medicamentos que salvan vidas no están completamente cubiertos. Gran parte de lo que ha vivido lo ha costeado él mismo.

Tras meses de dolorosa recuperación, Keneth finalmente tuvo su decimotercera cirugía —su cuarto reemplazo de cadera— y logró volver a caminar. Pero el alivio duró poco. Estudios recientes mostraron que su fémur nunca se fusionó con el implante. La prótesis ahora está suelta dentro de su pierna. Una vez más, no puede caminar, sufre dolor constante y no puede trabajar ni cuidar de sus hijos como quisiera.

Ahora, un reconocido cirujano ortopédico en Honduras, el Dr. Tirzo Boquín, está planeando lo que será la decimocuarta cirugía de Keneth: una reconstrucción compleja para fijar una nueva prótesis directamente al hueso. Esta es su última esperanza real de volver a caminar y recuperar su vida.

Estamos pidiendo ayuda para que esta cirugía sea posible. Las donaciones se destinarán a la operación, hospitalización, antibióticos, fisioterapia y gastos básicos de recuperación. Keneth ya ha entregado todo lo que tenía. Nosotros, como familia, estamos haciendo todo lo posible, pero no podemos solos.
