Keneke's Celebration of Life Arrangements

Donation protected
I do not know where to start with the story of this extraordinary individual. Let me start with the purpose of this gofundme. Keneke Biggs, passed very suddenly last week. What was initially thought to be food poisoning turned out to be meningitis. My name is Paul and I was Keneke's companion in life for the past 3 1/2-4 years. My orignal intention was to have Keneke's funeral service and cremation take place in Houston, where we both have been living for the past 4 years. This was going to be at my expense...which I was more than happy to do.

Keneke is orginally from Hawaii and has several half sisters and half brothers living there. Keneke is from the foster system in Hawaii and was eventually adopted by a Hawaiian family. He left that home at age 17 (in his senior year of high school). It is not clear if he chose to leave or if he was kicked out, but what is clear is that his departure came about as a result of conflict with the adoptive family surrounding the issue of his sexuality. Fortunately, the adoptive family also adopted Keneke's older half-sister Tiana. From what I understand, Tiana and Keneke lived under the same roof for 10 years or so. Tiana also left/was kicked-out before age 18. I think she was 15 or 16 at the time. Although the siblings' relationship was fractured as a result of these events (I don't believe they have seen each other in over 10 years, but there was some communication), from what I understand, Tiana was extremely protective over her baby brother when they were living together, and, out of all his blood relatives, Keneke had the strongest bond with Tiana.

Tiana obviously feels that strong bond now more than ever, and would like for her beautiful baby brother to be transported to Hawaii, so she, and Keneke's nieces and nephews have the opportunity to meet, or see him one last time, before cremation. I should mention (sorry about this Tiana) that Tiana is currently on probation and is not permitted to fly to Houston at this time. I, as should anyone else reading this should have absolutely no judgment towards Tiana. Keneke and Tiana had a brutal and traumatic upbringing. She has been doing great recently, and her family are so proud of her.

It is going to be expensive to fly Keneke to Hawaii, and from what I understand, cremation costs in Hawaii are higher than on the mainland. My current estimate is $10,000. But that is only an estimate right now. I have been busy making arrangements in Houston up until yesterday, so have not had the chance to figure out exact expenses. I can update this page as more information comes in.

Keneke was an absolutely beautiful person, inside and out. He wasn't perfect, but he was an extraordinary person. Looking at pictures of Keneke (and this is directed at the Gay community), I think it would be very easy to make the judgment that Keneke was just a 'circuit-boy' (the gays will understand the lingo)....but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, I always believed his good looks were more of a handicap for him. Keneke's two passions in life were Jesus, and his dog, Luna. He was an incredibly spiritual person. He read and studied his bible daily and was constantly giving thanks to God, and to Jesus. Don't get me wrong, me and Keneke would often be spotted on the dancefloor in Houston's Montrose area, dancing till 2am....but it was all very wholesome fun. We loved to dance. It was kind of spiritual for us actually.

Any funds raised in addition to Keneke's funeral arrangements in Hawaii will either be returned to the donors (if that is possible) or put towards a charity. Keneke's choice would probably have something to do with dog rescue. My choice would be something to do with LGBTQ homelessness or foster care. Not sure yet, but we will cross that bridge if/when we come to it. Keneke's wishes will be paramount, it will just take some investigating.
