Kendra Strong: Together We Rise Because No One Fights Alone

Our world was turned upside down when my 23-year-old daughter, Kendra, went to the emergency room for what she thought was a fairly minor but painful issue, was rushed into an estimated 45 minute surgery that was stopped at 3 hours in and then she was airlifted to a trauma hospital 200 miles away from home due to a life-threatening emergency. She is currently in the ICU on life support, battling sepsis and a rare bacterial infection, with multiple surgeries already performed and more to come. As her mother, I am by her side, advocating for her and ensuring she gets the best possible care, but this comes with a tremendous financial burden.

Although I am able to continue some of my work during this time, I have had to offload some clients and responsibilities resulting in my income decreasing while expenses are rapidly increasing. The travel expenses to stay with her, the daily parking fees at the hospital, and the costs of living in a more expensive city are adding up quickly. Once Kendra begins her recovery, there will be ongoing transportation costs for her medical care, and we'll need to establish a safe, sustainable living space with assisted care for her long-term recovery.
