Kendra’s Recovery from Meningitis
Donation protected
After waking up with the worst migraine I thought I ever had, I went to urgent care where I received fluids through and IV and was then sent home. After two hours at home I couldn’t even walk by myself and knew something was seriously wrong. I had one of my close friends take me to the emergency room, and knew I was right about something being terribly wrong when the nurses became really worried about me. After a series of tests, including a CT scan and a very painful spinal tap, it was then that they told me I had viral meningitis. I had an infection that spread through my spinal fluid and into my brain causing my brain to swell. I had never felt so sick and helpless in my life. I needed help with a walker just to walk, I needed nurses help just to shower. The most simple life skills seemed impossible. After spending 13 days in the hospital, it still wasn’t over. The meningitis caused so many health problems I am still suffering, I still can’t work, I still have to see doctors constantly, and I even had to move from my apartment in Florida back with my parents in Massachusetts to get the help and care that I need. I’m struggling physically, mentally, and financially. So please, if you can donate, anything will help. The medical bills from staying in the hospital, the emergency room visits, the urgent care visits, the doctors visits, are all so overwhelming. Everything happens for a reason but I can’t help but to reach out for help because there is a very long journey ahead of me.
