UPDATE: I have just lost my SSI benefits and have NO means of income whatsoever! We have had to move because we can't even afford our housing anymore. PLEASE help by donating!
Hey all, my name is Kendra Lee and I am 31 years old. I am black, chronically ill and most importantly, I am a mother to my 22 month old daughter. I have been struggling with sever chronic stomach issues since I was 19 and have seen many different kinds of doctors, have had many different kinds of tests and procedures and taken a chemical cocktail of medications with *no* relief or real diagnosis because I am on state insurance, if doctors can't find the issue with the basic yet subpar testing, they see no point in further investigation. I was given the blanket diagnosis of IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome which is a basically term doctors use for patients they can't figure the problems out and don't seem to much care to continue looking, so for 12.5 years I have been dealing with this illness by myself on my own. Because I have no true diagnosis, treatment is very limited, and the cost of said treatment is beyond what I get every month. But to receive proper treatment, I must first get a diagnosis. The blanket diagnosis could be entirely wrong and it could be something more aggressive and I am desperate to get answers and hopefully my life back, but I won't know what exactly it is or if it's even treatable until I can afford diagnostic testing. I would at the very least need a gastric emptying test, endoscopy and colonoscopy to rule out cancer. In the last 12.5 years, I have dropped out of college, quit my job, have been hospitalized on several occasions with many ER visits and my SSI/disability that I was on because I am unable to work has been taken because of lack diagnosis. It is with utmost importance and urgency that I get funding as quickly as possible so I can get answers and treatment. The funding I receive will go towards the diagnostic testing which is INCREDIBLY expensive and won't be covered by the state insurance that I'm on, and I am unable to afford other insurance because I can not work and the treatment will be even more expensive. I need funding as soon as possible because this is not sustainable and frankly really l am in a great deal of pain which is not only debilitating, but hinders me being the mom my daughter needs and deserves.
