A few weeks ago, I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Since then, life has turned into a whirlwind of appointments, scans, biopsies, and now preparing for chemotherapy and radiation. In just over a month, I’ve already had more medical appointments than I can count, and I’m just getting started.

I’m a mom to two amazing kids, and they are my entire world. Everything I’m doing right now is to make sure I get through this and stay here for them.

I want to be upfront about my situation. I am currently not working, and I am going through treatment largely on my own. While I am still married, I am not receiving consistent financial or personal support toward my medical care. That means the responsibility of covering treatment-related expenses and caring for my kids during this time falls on me.

Cancer is hard enough on its own. Adding the financial stress of travel, medical costs, and basic day-to-day needs makes it overwhelming at times.

• Groceries, household bills, and care for my kids during treatment
