Our dear friend, Kendra Sprinkling, urgently needs our help with a Crisis at Home.

It’s Our Turn to Help-

As many of you know, Kendra has dedicated her professional life—over 35 years—to raising money for HIV/AIDS through her non-profit, The Shooting Stars Foundation, which has raised over 2 million dollars.

For many years, Kendra has shared her life- philanthropy work and home with her beloved friend, companion, and 'family' member’, Linda Guthrie. Tragically, Linda is now facing a serious, incurable disease caused by a compromised immune system. This has led to a debilitating stroke, leaving her tethered constantly and permanently to oxygen and with very limited mobility. Throughout it all Linda remains positive.

Kendra, unwilling to see her best friend moved to a care facility, spent her entire life savings—close to $50,000—to renovate Linda's basement studio, ensuring it was accessible for her and functional for her remaining time at home. The plan was to create a safe, walker-friendly space with a roll-in shower, wider doors and able to handle all the tubing her constant oxygen would require.

The Scam That Cost Everything-

Kendra hired a contractor through a company whose membership was advertised as the best professionals in Vancouver. She reviewed 40 companies and interviewed 4 of them that catered to the disabled. The company she chose offered the most promise as well as a guarantee that the work would be completed by the time Linda returned from many months of rehab. However, he turned out to be a skilled career con artist. He quickly tore up the suite, fabricated expensive and "necessary" Hazmat, plumbing and electrical issues, and manipulated Kendra—a grieving woman who was spending 7 hours a day at G F Strong focused on her friend’s survival—into approving more and more budget.

He took the full $50,000 in increments that were deemed immediately necessary to meet the deadline. Now, the suite is a hazardous construction site: floors are ripped up, drywall is missing, the bathroom is dismantled, and debris covers everything. Kendra has lost nearly everything she invested.

Kendra is a humble person who would never ask for help, but now she and Linda- who have both given so much for years to so many others in need- are now in desperate need themselves.

Our goal is to raise minimum $26,000 to up to $50,000 to repay her loss. This will allow her to hire a legitimate professional to complete the bare minimum renovations needed to make the studio livable for Linda as soon as possible.

There is strength in numbers. Every contribution we can offer will help Kendra get back on her feet and, most importantly, give Linda her home back for her precious time with us.
