Months ago my beautiful sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. This, as as you can imagine, came as a great surprise. A routine mammogram followed by additional tests and biopsies, yielded results nobody wants to hear…. “You have breast cancer.” Although my sis has medical insurance, she has a long road ahead of her. As a single parent, she is the sole provider for herself and her daughter, so this will be tough. My sis is a hard worker and normally takes on a ton of call shifts in addition to her normal work schedule to support her little family. Due to multiple upcoming surgeries, she will be off from work for several weeks, equaling nearly three months (assuming there are no complications) and forcing her to forego taking any call shifts. We are unsure yet if she will need radiation. If she does, this will come with additional expenses. We’re hoping to raise some money to ease the financial burden this event has placed on her.

I know she is very stressed. Myself and other members of the family wanted to do something to ease her stress and provide support. Many of you that know me, also know that family is everything to me and cancer has touched our family in a profound way. I want to do everything in my power to allow her to rest and heal.
