Hi I'm Kendra and I have Cushing's Disease.

I've been working on getting a diagnosis and treatment for nearly two years now and we're finally in the home stretch! The reality of this Disease is that it's caused by tumors usually in the pituitary gland or in the adrenal glands. My very extensive testing has revealed my source to be a pituitary tumor. Unfortunately due to the rarity of Cushing's I couldn't find anyone in Arizona to take my case, including Barrow Neurological and Mayo Clinic. So I've been traveling to Providence St. John's in Santa Monica, California. There, in conjunction with the Pacific Neuroscience Institute, I've had two surgeries already. One which was an extensive testing surgery in my brain to determine the source of my Cushing's. And most recently a surgery to remove a lung tumor, which was an incidental find but was removed for fear of it being neuroendocrine like my brain tumor.

This next surgery in my brain, presents a huge financial burden for us since I'll have to remain within 5 miles from the hospital for two weeks after surgery. Unfortunately, staying in the area near the hospital is very costly. Even looking at airbnb so that our son can be with us is very costly. This is compounded by the fact that I've been on medical leave and unable to work since October of 2021.

There is a very real possibility that after this brain tumor removal, I may still need to have my adrenal glands removed. This would also necessitate a two week stay near the hospital, in addition to the first stay. Due to time off policies at Rob's job he would be able to take time off to help care for me, however after 10 days it will be unpaid. We're in a real bind here. Our finances are tighter than they've been, and with two extended stays looming, we're in need of help.

This amount would help us stay for a month, help with food and parking costs, and help supplement Rob's income if he ends up needing to take unpaid time to care for me. We are so grateful to God for bringing us this far. He is the one who spoke my diagnosis to me, He's walking with us every step of the way.
