On July 24th Kendall was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Here is her story...
A few weeks ago, Kendall found a lump on her breast. She immediately scheduled a visit with her gynecologist. The doctor thought it was probably a fibroid cyst, and ordered a mammogram and ultra-sound. All reports were pointing to a benign fibroid cyst, but she needed to see a surgeon to discuss a needle biopsy or lumpectomy. She chose a lumpectomy - mainly because she is "cheap" (her words, not mine) and didn't want to pay twice for similar procedures. July 21st the surgeon removed the lump – again, no surprises reported by the surgeon. But pathology told a different story.
July 24th the call came in "the lump was found to be invasive ductile carcinoma."
Next steps, MRI and genetic testing, chemo, double mastectomy and possible hysterectomy, possible radiation, reconstructive surgery, and a lifetime of worry.
We normally would never ask for assistance from our family and friends. But our concern for Kendall's family, facing reduced income and significant out-of-pocket expenses compels us to humbly ask for your help. All contributions will go directly toward the support and care of Kendall and her family.
If you are local and prefer to help in more tangible ways, please check out our Planner Page on CaringBridge .
We are forever grateful for all the positive thoughts, prayers and well-wishes that are flooding in, and thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
The Lindenman and Dehmer Families
