Kenai was born with Luxoid Hips, which is a deformity of the ball and socket joint of the hip. Both of his legs have never properly fit in his hips and is getting the first total hip replacement done next week.( X-rays included at the bottom.)
After the first consultation appointment today, I was informed that the surgery would cost 8,700$ - 9,200$.... This is the cost of replacing just one hip.
Obviously I do not have 18,000$ so I am turning now to complete strangers.
Kenai is a 1 year old Husky, Malamute, Samoyed mix with the heart of a baby! He is very talkative and too smart for his own good. As a large breed dog, having Luxoid hips has put him through extreme physical pain and stunted his growth. He spends his days lounging on his fluffy carpets, playing with his best friend Stella, a german shepard - husky mix. Kenai has a smile that steals your heart and turns you into a giddy kid playing with a puppy. (I provided pictures as proof of this)
My name is Jess. I am a 24 year old artist, musician, and service industry worker. I have been serving tables for 8 years, so my work ethic is strong and relentless. I now work as an hourly manager for a small restaurant chain in San Antonio, taking a huge pay cut to further my management career. Its not easy but I am trying to build a stable life for myself, so Kenai can live a secure and satisfying life.
Kenai got me thru one of the worst times in my life, being heartbroken, diagnosed with 2 painful medical conditions, steadily losing weight, and just struggling to sleep through the night. Kenai was always there, little did I know that he was dealing with his own pain. Once he was diagnosed, I threw aside my worries and dived into helping him. He is my world and the light of my life. Im sure all of you know what I am talking about and have one of your own.
Im hoping this message reaches many people who love their animals like I love Kenai, because they know exactly how this heartbreak feels; to not be able to provide for the ones who need us the most, rely on us for safety.
