Hi, my name is Missy and I am fundraising for my 15 year old niece Kenadie, who suffered a severe concussion/Traumatic Brain Injury in December 2022. She has been suffering since that time, just living regular life is challenging for her and the lasting impact of her injury is affecting all aspects of her day to day.

She is not able to read because there is now a problem with her eyes and her brain communicating with each other. She goes to vision therapy regularly and is working on it, but there has been little to no improvement over the course of months and there is no way to know how long it will take before she can do something as simple as read again. She has had to drop out of school classes because she is unable to keep up with the work and often cannot attend class because she has such awful headaches and her eyes hurt too bad to be able to function. She has fallen behind in school and needs to be able to make up her classes, but without additional recovery, there is again no way to know when that will be.

The injury extends beyond the learning part of a teenager's life and has significantly impacted her physically as well. She cannot play basketball, a sport she loves and excels at, she cannot even do anything that exerts herself in any way because she tires too easily and her head begins to struggle and ache doing anything remotely physical or social. she wears sunglasses all the time, even indoors, to try and reduce some of the head aches that she feels constantly. She is trying to stay positive about the situation, but depression is starting to take hold, as her brain just wants to feel normal again and is unable to.

The family has found and consulted with a local facility that is renowned and acclaimed for their work with TBI's, Cognitive FX, in Provo Utah. My sister Carrie and Kenadie had a consultation with the founder of CFX this week and the work they are doing is incredible, the results undeniable and there is no doubt that this is what they need to do for Kenadie. She will be attending a 2 week intensive treatment at CFX as soon as possible and there is every reason to expect and believe that Kenadie will see miraculous results from this program. However, CFX is extremely expensive. Because they do not file with insurance, they are able to provide so many treatments not usually offered in TBI recovery, but it comes with a cost.

While the family is willing to do whatever they need to for Kenadie and to help her resume the normal life of a teenager, this will take a significant toll financially and will require loans and other means to be able to provide. I am hoping to try and relieve as much of that burden from the Brown family as possible. We appreciate any and all donations for this amazing young woman as she tries to get her life back!
