Hello from the Vinal family. We are starting this go fund me page for Ken and Abbey his wife. Earlier this summer after a visit to the ER with what we thought was migraine, we found out Ken had a massive brain tumor classified as a stage 4 Glioblastoma. He was rushed down to Maine Medical Center with Abbey and had emergency brain surgery. The doctors were able to remove the tumor successfully, but we found out that the growth was cancerous. This type of cancer is considered very aggressive and terminal. Even with chemo and radiation, the oncologist knows that the tumor will return and run its course.
Before all of this began, our parents sold their beautiful home of almost 20 years and purchased a home they could retire in. Their dream was to completely renovate and turn it into a low maintenance home that either one of them could live in alone. They share this home with one of his daughters (Alex) and his 3yr old granddaughter (Effie). As he undergoes his chemo and radiation therapy, we are asking for your support to help finish the house before winter. As well as pay the extensive medical bills and travel expenses to and from an array of appointments that exceeds 20 miles each way. Although they were beginning to make progress on the house this tragedy has left many unfinished projects. Some of the projects include, a bedroom for Ken and Abbey, a roof and a garage. Ken and Abbey are very proud people, and don’t like to ask for donations or help, however their pride is overruled by their desire to finish the house and garage. Ken’s wish is to finish the house for Abbey while he still has the strength and ability as he fears it won’t be finished before he’s gone. As a lifelong hard worker, he has never been one to leave a job half finished, and even with the cancer he doesn’t plan on starting now.
The entire Vinal family (Ken, Abbey, Katie, Paton, Alex, Steve, Laura and Effie) greatly appreciate any and all donations in making Ken’s wishes come true. Thank you.
