Bereavement Fund for Ken Thomas's Family

Hi, my name is Matthew, but my friends call me Mookie. I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my friend Ellen and her late husband, my friend Ken.

Ken had a curious mind, an infectious laugh, wild eyes, and a tender heart. To know Ken was to be gently challenged to be more yourself, to care more, and to luxuriate in a tasty groove whenever and wherever the opportunity might arise. He will always be a man of the people and his spirit serves as a reminder to stand for love and to fight for human dignity.

Ken passed away on Monday, April 10, after two years living with cancer. Ellen, as headstrong and heartstrong a person as I've ever known, was with him to the end. She acted as his soulmate, companion, advocate, caretaker, and best friend.

This fundraiser is intended to help Ellen to tackle debt and expenses related to the process of his treatment and care, and to give her some financial breathing room as she mourns his passing and celebrates their life together.

Ken's memorial will be held on May Day, May 1, 2023 at the Fortune Teller Bar.
