Hi, my name is Beverly, and I am fundraising for my brother Ken Stone who suffered a brain stem stroke on September 7, 2023. He is a self-employed construction worker and has now been unable to work for a month due to the stroke. We are told that his rehabilitation and recovery will be a year+ with no guarantees that he will be able to resume work. The type of stoke that he has is less than 15% which makes it a rare one. This stroke affects both sides of the body where he needs assistance with everyday functions - including someone to feed him and reposition him in bed along with other daily functions. He is slowly gaining ground with the help of three different therapists (Speech, Occupational and Physical). We are hopeful that he will be able to resume work in some capacity in the construction industry but in the meantime, he has been using his available funds, along with some family assistance, to cover his housing expenses and any medical expenses not covered by his insurance.

My brother has always been a self-sufficient person. The ability to not care for himself, in a physical and financial sense, is quite overwhelming for him.

The funds will be used for his housing expenses, which includes everything from utilities, heating and municipal taxes to any medical costs that will not be covered by his insurance.
