Ken Ochi Funeral Expenses
This GoFundMe is created in honor of Ken Ochi. Ken was a beloved son and friend to everyone he met. He passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on 12/20/21. We are fundraising to help Ken's parents, Muffie and Sam Ochi, with funeral expenses.
Ken was a kind, fun, and genuine soul who was Cordon Blue trained but found his calling as an esteemed Lighting Designer and Production Manager. He was deeply invested in the theater and church community, sharing his time and talent most recently at Eternal Life Church in Menlo Park, CA as their Production Lead and Video/Lighting Director. For more than 5 years Ken was a big part of all the ELC events and their annual New Years countdown experience. It was because of Ken that ELC launched their Live stream services at the start of the pandemic. Under his guidance, equipment and mentorship he helped train the current team. Ken was also a big part of the new release of Christopher Hinojosa “Reina Hoy”. He led the entire production and spent long hours of editing before the online concert. Ken also assisted many other churches in the Bay Area; Northern Pacific Coast District, UCAC, EVPC,ALCF, The Family Church, Redemption, Union Church of Cupertino, Saratoga Presbyterian Church and many more.
Ken also worked at Castilleja School in Palo Alto, CA and Menlo-Atherton High School in Atherton, CA where he was the Technical Director and the Assistant Advisor for the Theater Tech Club sharing his love and passion for theater with the next generation. Ken was the Lighting Director for Grupo Barak when they visited Northern California and toured to San Diego with the group. Ken also toured with Miel San Marcos in Texas and the West Coast. Ken was a big fan of both of these groups, the guys, their production, and their music. Most recently, Ken worked with ThemeDream Productions and Penguin Productions where he shared his infinite craft, talents, and artistry to help create unforgettable events.
As we approach his Celebration of Life service, let us cherish and share fond memories of this amazing individual who was loved dearly by his students, congregation, co-workers, friends, and family. His mother Muffie shared that Ken's favorite past times included boating and going on cruises with his parents. He had always wanted to go to Alaska and one of his fondest trips was an Alaskan cruise with his mother. Ken left an impression on everyone he came into contact with and his life will be forever cherished as he will be missed more than words could ever express. Your donations are greatly appreciated, especially during this difficult time preceding Christmas for the Ochi family.
