Ken "Mr. Disney" McOwen Funeral & Memorial

Donation protected

It is with great sorrow that we must reach out on behalf of our beloved Ken McOwen; my brother, my best friend, my most trusted ear and advice giver, who unexpectedly passed last week at the age of 57.

On 5/26/21, I went to visit him on my lunch break and found him unresponsive in his recliner. I performed CPR while the paramedics were dispatched, but there was nothing I, nor they, could do. He was pronounced DOA.

Ken had 3 toes amputated on 4/26/21 due to complications from an infection. On 5/7/21, he was sent back to the hospital since his footwas not healing properly and they were concerned that he might become septic. Ken had complained about his right side getting cold and feeling numb. He was monitored and released on 5/11/21. With suspicions that the infection remained, and with him not feeling well after the release, he pushed for a 2nd amputation to completely get past the infection in his foot. We were told that they would amputate from the knee down, and just wait for the surgery to be scheduled. Unfortunately, his body just could not wait that long for whatever reason, and we lost one of the greatest people we knew.

Kenny marched to the beat of his own drum; a real one of a kind type, in a great way. He was very selfless and giving, always joking, and always helping. Always.

He never had children of his own but volunteered to be the Cubmaster of his nephews scout pack, and was a driving force behind it. Many activities, events, fundraisers were made possible by him and his secret donations to these events. A great contributor in more ways than the pack could count, and in more ways than any of the children realized. Later in life, in the same way that he volunteered to be theCubmaster, he volunteered himself as the Ambassador of Disney Information and Welcome Staff (totally made up), and found happinessin being at Disneyland; helping people find their way, and making sure they were having a really good time. The group of people that he so often visited the park with called him Mr. Disney, and he loved it. Just as he loved them.
