On August 22, 2022, the community suddenly lost a beloved coach.
Coach Ken began coaching the Ice Hockey Mites (age eight and under) over 25 years ago. He coached for years at the rec and travel team levels, but teaching the Mites to love hockey was always his favorite. In 2012, he began coaching his daughters in Lacrosse.
After two leg amputations Coach, Ken decided to press on and get back out on the field when he moved to the St. Augustine area. He started with the PAL program with 10-year-old girls and continued to coach those girls right up to high school! His philosophy of teaching the players to love the game was always his priority.
His sudden death was a shock to both the Hockey and Lacrosse community. He leaves behind a wife and three adult children.
Peggy is a St. John's county School district employee and works serving our county's children as a Speech and Language Pathologist.
Unfortunately, Ken left no way to support Peggy financially. He had no life insurance, pension, or assets. Sadly, the small Social Security check that helped them afford their townhouse will disappear.
Peggy Larson has always been known to give when others are in need. She would never ask for anything in return. Peggy is in a time of need in her life. Times like these are challenging, but if you are in a place where you can give a little to ease this transition, we ask that you do!
