Ken and Margaret Jones - Green Turtle Cay

Donation protected
My name is Brad Salter.  My wife and I own a home on Green Turtle Cay in the Abacos, Bahamas.  When we bought the home, we were blessed to have Ken and Margaret as the home's caretakers already in place.  Knowing them over the past several years, I can assure you that Ken and Margaret are two of the most honest, hard-working, family-oriented, and overall wonderful people you could ever know.  Two years ago Ken and Margaret invited us to share Christmas day with them and their family. It was that day on which "The Christmas Band" was born!

The photos above show the home they lost as a result of Hurricane Dorian.  The photo below it shows The Christmas Band performing on the same deck two years prior.  Please help them in this time of need.  Although many of us are involved in a variety of Dorian relief efforts, no amount of tarps, chainsaws, canned food, or bug spray will help them rebuild their home.  The funds raised here will be used specifically for them to pay for all renovations/construction necessary for them to have a livable home.  Everything is more expensive in the Bahamas, when the costs of shipping, duties, and VAT are taken into account.  Please help Ken and Margaret get back on their feet.  The plan is to provide them with all of the funds as soon as we can.  Ken and Margaret will be given direct access to these funds through the gofundme web site.  Due to the lack of electricity and internet on the island, we don't know how long it will be until they will be able to access the web site, but we would love for them to have a good head start on paying for renovations/construction as soon as they can.  Thank you!

UPDATE 10/24/2019 - A lot has happened on the island since the storm.  The island looks SO much better than immediately after the storm, but the island still looks like a disaster area in large part.  Ken and Margaret have been working hard to help the island rebuild, distributing aid, and working on getting their home livable.  The top two photos were taken just the other day.  As you can see, there is a new roof on the house!  It was decided that they were not going to rebuild the second story that they lost in the storm.  Shingles are the next project, and once those are on, the inside of the house will be addressed.  The other new photo up top shows the inside gutted.  You can see the stairwell which will need to be removed, given the lack of the additional story.  The pace of the project has been greatly aided by Ken and Margaret's use of funds raised to buy needed supplies from Nassau.  Ken says that his goal is to have the house livable by Christmas.  I have my doubts as to whether that is feasible, but a return of The Christmas Band this year would be amazing.

Thank you all so much for your generosity.  You have all made such a huge difference in Ken and Margaret's lives.
