help my mom get back on her feet

hi — some of you know, some of you don’t

 

but on August 15th around 1:50 AM, my mom was coming off a late shift at work and was driving home when she accidentally fell asleep at the wheel, swerved her car and hit a tree directly on

 

 

her car caught on fire immediately and when the police arrived on the scene, she was unresponsive so they had to break the window to unlock her door and pull her out — she was airlifted to a burn unit in washington dc

 

because her car caught on fire, so did all of her things so she was in the hospital for five days as a ‘jane doe’ and was intubated so she couldn’t talk

 

it wasn’t until august 19th that i started getting phone calls that my mom was missing only to find out to was in the car accident — i was able to identify her over the phone that night and flew to dc the next morning only to spend two weeks with her

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

her injuries:

• spinal fracture

• fractured left foot

• third degree burns on her right leg and parts of her stomach

• bruises all up and down her back from the accident

 

she’s since had two surgeries for her right foot to get skin grafts

 

 

 

 

on september 15th, she finally left the hospital and went into rehab to do physical therapy on her right foot as her left foot is non weight bearing

 

on september 30th she finally went home and is currently still non weight bearing on her left foot

 

my mom has been out of work for 11 weeks now, she is healing and everyday making progress but we still aren’t sure how many more weeks the doctor will have her without using her left foot

 

 

her insurance has covered part of her medical bills

but she’s still left without a car for when she can go back to work

shes still left with bills, rent, and still needs to be able to have groceries

 

my mom is not the type of person to ask for help, so if you could please consider donating!
