Kelvyn Kriene

Kelvyn Kriene Leuthold only lived on this earth a mere seven years.  In that time, he touched the lives of many.  On Monday, August 12th, Kelvyn was in a farm accident and was called to his heavenly home.  Instead of reliving the tragic events, I want to focus on gratitude – the quality of being thankful.

This experience has reminded me that happiness is fleeting.  Joy is continuous - even in times of turmoil one can have a joyful heart.  I’ve learned the best way to acquire a joyful heart is to practice gratitude.  In this time of heartache we can still be joyful and celebrate the memories made with Kelvyn while he was here on this earth.

I am thankful for the little man that Kelvyn grew up to be.  He was selfless and eager to help others.  He was full of energy and lit up the room with his toothless smile.  He lived in the moment enjoying the present activity to the fullest.  He wasn’t afraid to ask questions or share his opinion.  He was hard working and mature beyond his years.  He loved his little sisters dearly and watched over them.  He loved having engaging conversations with his mom.  He loved life on the farm riding horses, driving go-cart, and being a farm-hand for his dad.  Above all, he loved Jesus and was not shy to talk about his faith

Our family has so many memories with Kelvyn that we will cherish forever.  These include times at the lake with cousins, family birthday parties and holidays, sleepovers, and trips to the farm.  Today, I am thankful for his parents, Kale and Kourtney, who raised such a loveable young man and kids that love Jesus.  As people were gathered together tonight at Kale and Kourtney’s to show their support, the kids were playing.  Kelvyn’s four year old sister, Kaylee, walked up to Opi (grandpa) and showed him a picture she colored.  She said, “This is Kelvyn and this is Jesus and they’re in Heaven.”  I am grateful that Kelvyn is with Jesus and we will get to spend eternity rejoicing with him in Heaven.

I am also thankful for the thoughts and prayers of family, friends, and the community lifting up the family in this time of need.  As we all mourn the loss of Kelvyn, let’s strive to have joyful hearts.

I have a few requests that may seem simple but I assure you they will have a great impact on the lives of Kale and Kourtney.

First, please continue to pray for comfort and healing for Kale and Kourtney and their family.

Second, share this post and practice gratitude by sharing your special memories of Kelvyn.  Include #kelvynkriene so Kale and Kourtney can see all of your comments and be reminded of all of the lives Kelvyn has blessed.

Third, consider a financial gift to support the family as medical expenses and funeral expenses will add up quickly.  If a financial gift isn’t a possibility, no problem.  Items 1 and 2 are very significant and words cannot express how much these will mean to the family.

We love you Kelvyn Kriene.  You have filled our hearts with joy.
