Kelvin Reid’s Hospital Expenses

Hello all, 
I'm writing this to say I’ve started a GoFundMe for my mother’s brother, my uncle, Kelvin Reid.  3 weeks ago, my uncle was assaulted by someone in Trelawny, Jamaica and left by the side of the road to die. He was left paralyzed and unable to move any extremeties, as he has fractured his neck (C3 to C7).

Because he is so far away in another country, it has been difficult and frustrating communicating with hospital staff. Family members in Jamaica have also had a difficult time visiting him due to Covid-19.

As the medical system in Jamaica is muchdifferent from the United States, people without health insurance get free care but must pay for their own medical equipment.  We just received word that he needs medical equipment in order for repair his cerivical spine.  

The cost of the equipment is $741,460.00 JMD (Jamaican Dollars).  This is equivalent to $5,703.5 US dollars as is it approximately $120 JMD to 1 US dollar. Image of the hospital bill is attached.

If this money is not raised, he will be discharged from the hospital with his
neck still broken and he will be paralyzed.
