Hi, I’m Jack, and my wife Kelsey is a professional horsewoman. Her and I traded in our day jobs in the last few years to pursue careers in the equestrian community. Did we have a moment of temporary mental insanity? Maybe. But we have met some of the most amazing people and animals along the way and have loved every second of the journey. Back in May, Kelsey broke a finger and was unable to ride for several weeks but we persevered and continued to believe we would be able to continue our operation as she recovered. (She rides and trains, I announce and help out at horse shows). Kelsey was given a clean bill of health in the last month and has been back at it in every way possible - accepting new rides and literally working her ass off so we could build something together. I have never been more impressed by the work ethic of another human being in my life. She is everything I aspire to be as a person and I’m incredibly proud to be her husband through the first almost two years of marriage.

Today a lot changed. While showing she has a freak accident and fell from a horse and shattered her arm and wrist in multiple places. At first it didn’t seem to be a severe fall but we are now being told she will be scheduled for surgery and it will most likely be a long road to a full recovery.

I am not usually this person. I like to think I can take of everyone and fix everything. I obsess until I can solve the problem by unfortunately at this time I’m unable to do that for Kelsey by myself. We have so much tied up in the business that the unforeseen medical expenses we are staring at are terrifying. I am currently working to liquidate assets to help - (anyone want to buy a horse trailer?) We obviously have insurance, but there will be deductibles, out of pocket expenses, uncovered medical bills and more importantly the loss of income Kelsey will be dealing with in the near future. We have always been inspired by the kindness our friends and community have shown to people like us who have gone through similar situations, and are asking for your help in our time of uncertainty and need. We will update this as we continue to learn more about the injury and recovery, and once again thank our friends who are able to help.
