In December, local Victoria, B.C. mom, Kelsey Miller, received life-changing news: she had breast cancer. At just 36 years old, Kelsey is a vibrant, healthy woman- a wife and loving mother to two young children and a step-mother to one. Shortly after her diagnosis, she learned that her cancer is Stage 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.
Kelsey has already undergone a mastectomy with incredible strength and resilience. Her journey, however, is far from over. She is now preparing to begin 8 rounds of chemotherapy, which will likely be followed by 4 weeks of radiation treatment. After that, Kelsey will require reconstructive surgery, surgery on her right breast, and 5-10 years of hormone therapy. The road ahead will be physically and emotionally demanding, requiring all of her energy and focus on healing.
With this treatment plan, it has become clear that Kelsey will be unable to return to work for an extended period of time. As a result, the financial strain on her family is growing. The last thing Kelsey and her loved ones should have to worry about during this time is how to make ends meet. Funds raised will go toward essential living expenses and the many costs associated with long-term medical leave. There is also the possibility that her husband may need to take time away from work to support Kelsey through treatment and care for their children.
Despite everything she is facing, Kelsey has met this challenge with remarkable courage. She has chosen to be open and honest about her journey, sharing her experience in the hope of supporting and inspiring other women who may one day face a similar diagnosis. Her bravery is truly inspiring.
If you are able to contribute, any amount will make a meaningful difference for Kelsey and her family. And if you cannot donate, sharing this page and keeping Kelsey in your thoughts means just as much.
Let’s come together as a community to support Kelsey through this fight- so she can focus on what matters most: her health, her healing, and her family.
