Hi I am Kelsey’s mom. Kelsey has been sick for almost a year now and just had her 7th surgery. It all started last July. She started having joint pain and went to the doctors and they said she has reactive arthritis due to the infection from a pilondal cyst. She had an I and d on July 3rd two weeks later another I and d with drain to keep it open. Tried to go back to work two weeks later and ended up in the ER septic and ended up having an emergency excision. She was out of work for 17 weeks. She had a wound for few months and ended up developing two new cysts and had to have another surgical I and D the day before Christmas eve. She spent 5 months of working and seeing a surgeon, packing and open wound every night. Ended up with pain, inflammation, went to wound care at Grant and they sent her to a plastic surgeon who did a direct admitted on 5/26 were they did another extensive debridement on sunday 5/28 where there was multiple abscesses , tracks, and dead tissue. Then the surgeon went back in on 5/31 to do a cleft lift which could help her get her life back but will have to be off work for probably another 6 weeks with no pay. She qualified for short term disability the first major surgery but it’s been less than a year and they are telling her she doesn’t qualify now.
