Kelsey battles Lyme Disease

After several years of living with symptoms and searching for answers, Kelsey was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease and several co-infections at 16 years old. At the time, it was a sigh of relief knowing that it was “just Lyme” with the assumption that it would quickly get better after treatment. What we thought would be an end to an already long and tough road, turned out to be just the beginning. Kelsey spent the majority of her senior year of high school bedridden, hooked up to IV medications through her PICC line and taking multiple pills per day. When starting her college journey, Kelsey had hopes of finding a career that involved helping others. Throughout her education she had to put school and life on hold numerous times due to severity of symptoms and treatment. After several years of ups and downs, Kelsey completed her degree and became a licensed therapist. Kelsey's professional journey has allowed her to work with a high risk population, serving people with a wide range of traumatic experiences and diagnoses. Although she’s accomplished so much, Lyme disease continues to cause hurdles for her everyday. Over the last year and a half she has had to adjust her life in many ways to accommodate balancing life with Lyme disease as an adult. As if battling this chronic illness wasn’t debilitating enough, Kelsey has recently become reinfected with Lyme disease from tick bites, which has only elevated her symptoms. Working had become unmanageable, so Kelsey and her doctors decided it was best to take medical leave and make treatment a main priority. As unfathomable as it is, the financial burden of these aggressive rounds of treatment needed to alleviate these debilitating symptoms fall solely on the patient costing thousands of dollars. Please consider donating to Kelsey. Your support will directly be used for direct treatment, medical supplies and transportation costs due to travel to and from the clinic.
