Help Kelsey and Brandon Fay Through This Medical Crisis
Donation protected
Hi, my name is JaNae Fay, and I created this fundraiser for my brother-in-law Brandon Fay, his wonderful wife Kelsey, and their beautiful children.
**Due to the sensitivity of the situation, we ask for privacy for the family at this time. We will update this page as we get updates.**

Update as of Nov 30
Brandon's kidneys have fully recovered, and he no longer requires dialysis! Now that his kidneys are doing better, we are able to increase the heart medications in hopes of seeing significant improvements. While we haven’t seen major progress with his heart just yet, he continues to feel better each day. Thank you to everyone for your support and for keeping us in your thoughts.

Update as of Oct 26
Brandon is making significant progress in his recovery at home. His health is improving, but there’s still a long journey ahead. The heart device installed in the ICU saved his heart, but it unfortunately caused kidney failure, necessitating dialysis. He started with three sessions a week, but as of last week, that has been reduced to twice a week, which is encouraging. His heart rate remains too high and his ejection fraction too low, but the doctors are working to combat that with medicine. Brandon is attending various doctor appointments to get his heart health back on track. While the process is slow, we’re seeing positive changes and he has been able to resume light, normal activities and we look forward to updates from his upcoming appointments. We’ll continue to keep this page updated as we learn more.

Update as of September 28
Huge update! We are so grateful that Brandon is now back home with his family. His diagnosis upon discharge is stage D heart failure caused by myocarditis. He still has a long road to recovery and requires outpatient dialysis for the next while, but the important thing is that he’s able to recover from home with his family. Doctors don’t know exactly what caused the myocarditis, but they believe an infection played a major part in it.

Update as of Sept 24, 2024
Brandon is now out of the ICU and in a regular hospital room. He still needs to make more progress and is not ready to leave quite yet, but he is no longer critical. Thank you again for all the support.

Update as of Thursday Sept 19, 2024
Brandon has now been taken off almost all of his meds and many of the life supports. He continues to make small steps in the right direction and for that we are thankful. He is still being closely monitored in the ICU but the progress he has made has been very encouraging. We are so grateful for all the love and support from everyone.

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Brandon developed a cough, assuming it was just a cold. By the next day, his symptoms worsened, and he had difficulty breathing, so he went to urgent care. After receiving treatment, he was sent home with instructions to return if things didn’t improve.
Unfortunately, his condition took a serious turn overnight, and by Thursday, September 12, he was rushed to the ER. There, doctors discovered that Brandon was in critical condition and in need of immediate life support. He was diagnosed with acute viral myocarditis, a rare and dangerous condition affecting his heart, and now may be facing the possibility of a heart transplant. To receive the best care, he is being transferred to one of the top heart transplant hospitals in California.
As Brandon faces a long, uncertain road to recovery, Kelsey is navigating the difficult reality of caring for their children while traveling back and forth from the hospital. They’re doing everything they can, but the financial burden is significant.
Any donation, no matter the amount, will help with loss of income, gas, hotel stays, and mounting medical bills. Your generosity would mean the world to them during this incredibly challenging time.
Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
