I NEED YOUR HELP!
On 01/28/2018 WKNY & TIE are sending me off to Namibia to assist the Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) for four weeks. We will be focusing on spreading awareness of International Giraffe Day (the longest day of the year - June 21st), and developing strategies to reach a larger donation audience.
“Three decades ago, in the 1980s, the total number of all giraffe in Africa was estimated at approximately 155,000 individuals. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Survival Commission (SSC) Giraffe & Okapi Specialist Group and GCF estimate the current Africa-wide giraffe population to be less than 100,000 individuals. This is a drop of almost 40%. In some areas traditionally regarded as prime giraffe real estate, numbers have dropped by more than 95%.”
TIE links professionals from the commercial world with social initiatives across the globe and provides a platform for the creation of endeavors that impact organizations, their beneficiaries and local communities.
This experience is an incredible opportunity and I plan to provide as much assistance as I can in the time I will be there. In order to be as impactful as possible, I need your help crowdfunding a budget for the project.
I will try myself to handle as much as I can, but it’s important to have the flexibility for additional resources and to reach as many people as possible.
The funds may be used for outsourcing work, social outreach, and any other expenses whatever work we make entails.
Please watch PBS’s documentary “Giraffes - Africa's Gentle Giants.” The documentary follows the family I will be staying with (the founders of the GCF) and is very informative and in general, pretty cool.
