Kelly’s spinal surgery expenses

Donation protected
Life takes many twists and turns unexpectedly as most of us know first hand. I had back surgery 2 days after I graduated high school to remove 40% of my L5/S1 disc due to unrepairable tearing. I was told I’d have 10 more years before I had to face another surgery; I was lucky; I got 18 years. But now I’m here, at 35 and a few days before my 36 birthday, and that disc is torn to shreds, putting pressure on my sciatic nerve causing right leg pain and numbness.

Out of all my options and at my age, I have chosen a route through my surgical team that is a relatively new, high tech disc replacement that will increase the longevity of my back to closer to 40 years verses a fusion that might give me 10 years and create a ripple effect up my spine for more and more fusions. This procedure is not available in the States yet but this device was invented by Chattanooga surgeon, Dr. Hodges. So on September 12, eight days before my 36 birthday, I’ll be partially bionic.

This is not a cheap route and completely out of pocket but one that I feel will be the best investment for my future. As a contract worker, and a single lady, this not only takes from my what I have towards a down payment on a home, but I’ll be out of work for the next 6 weeks and part until 2020. I know it’s a lot to ask but I’m putting aside my pride and asking for some help. If you can, that’s amazing. If you can’t, maybe share this with your network if you are willing. All your thoughts and prayers would be amazing too.

Love to you all.
