Kelly's Journey to Beat Cancer
Donation protected
Kelly Seavey Tyszkiewicz began her journey in November 2020, with a chain of severe migraines and visits to Urgent Care to ease her symptoms. January came with the migraines getting more intense, resulting in Kelly and her husband Brian taking their second trip to the emergency room and demanding that she get an MRI to find out what was happening with her. The MRI revealed a mass in the back left of her brain and they scheduled brain surgery two days later to remove. Kelly, Brian, Ella and Matt pulled together to create a positive bubble to fight the unknown battle that was ahead of them. With COVID-19 restrictions in place at the hospital, Brian was the only one permitted to be with her. Thanks to an amazing nursing team, Kelly was able to see Ella and Matt before she went into surgery. Anyone who knows Kelly, knows that her kids give her the inspiration to accomplish great things in her life!
The surgery went well with her team of doctors removing 95-97% of the tumor and gaining an understanding of its nature. Kelly’s diagnosis was Stage 4 GBN Brain Cancer and her support team sprung into action. Brian and Kelly’s Dad Ron took a proactive approach while Kelly was healing from her surgery. They were able to connect with one of the most innovative surgeons treating GBN Brain Cancer and get a second opinion. Confirming her diagnosis, he was able to offer a radical treatment program that would put Kelly in a position to give her the best path back to her full life.
With fierce determination, Kelly and her Crew (Brian, Ella, Matt, Ron, Pam & Of Course the Dogs!) headed to Arizona for her next steps. Her new team is near her parent’s Arizona home, giving her the perfect second home for her treatment and a chance for her parents to give extra love to their daughter. They quickly started the innovative treatment plan with another brain surgery and to everyone’s amazement, was able to go back to her AZ home 24 hours later! As part of her treatment plan, Kelly’s new team was able to remove the remainder of the tumor and implant 24 radiation beads to fight the remaining particles. This cancer is aggressive, and the beads will work their magic for 30 days to control any growth. The treatment plan is in full swing and each step will bring new wins to celebrate. Kelly is back home in Colorado, with her team of doctors connecting with medical professionals near her home to seamlessly continue her treatment between the Colorado and Arizona. She is doing whatever it takes each day to be there for her kids during each of their many milestones to come.
It is important for Kelly to share the journey that her and her family are going through, to help others use positive thinking and hope as they battle cancer. She believes that God has a plan for this diagnosis and is determined to find the bright spots along the way. No matter what the day brings, Kelly ALWAYS let’s hope win!
