Dear friends, family, this is a hard ask for me as I like to be the person helping others. But here goes.

I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma stage 1 cancer after finding a lump in my breast following a workout in February 2023. Through testing and scans, I was also tested positive for the BRCA2 gene, which increases my chances of the cancer spreading to other areas of the body, most commonly, the reproductive system. This means I will need another surgery after this treatment to reduce my hormone levels and remove my reproductive organs.

On March 29, 2023, I had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Recovery from that surgery has been steady and now I am moving on to chemotherapy. I will have 20 chemotherapy sessions over the next 20 weeks. I am also exploring alternative treatment to deal with the side effects of chemo – things like acupuncture and meeting with a holistic oncologist. While my job at Douglas County Human Services is secure and I have good medical insurance, the bills continue to come. Cancer was not something we financially planned for. The additional costs for bandages, clothing, wigs, hats, cleaning service, medication, co-pays, etc. continues to pile up. I am humbly asking for your help to make this diagnosis and treatment a little easier to endure. Your continued prayers, phone calls, text and visits do help my overall well-being. But financially, the toll is overwhelming.

Payments toward current and future medical expenses, hospital bills, co-pays, holistic oncologist appointments.

Home Cleaning services for basic tasks that I am limited on completing.

Wigs, scarves, hats. Samantha is having a difficult time with the thought of me losing my hair.

Summer childcare and camps – I am hoping to get Jacob (11) and Samantha (8) out of the house more this summer to provide some positive distraction for them from my treatment.
